Walking Tour of Downtown Lexington
A walk through time - up to 6 people.
Service Description
Explore the history of downtown Lexington from its Revolutionary War origins, through the 19th and 20th centuries and into its current incarnation as a destination for art, food and culture. We will meet at the recently restored Courthouse, now the home of VisitLex and its beautiful visitor center. For the next two hours we will walk through the centuries, viewing sites that can include: historic Gratz Park with its many homes that tell the history of early Lexington, Transylvania University (Alma Mater to many of Kentucky's early doctors, lawyers and Senators), the offices of "The Great Compromiser" Henry Clay and the Cheapside market where enslaved people were once bought and sold. New landmarks like Short Street's bustling restaurant corridor, the newly-completed City Center block, Town Branch Commons and the 21st Century Art Hotel round out the experience. Gratuity not included.
